Mission
To protect and conserve North Carolina’s natural resources and environment by providing all customers with prompt, accurate information on the state’s environmental and natural resource programs, services and regulations, including permit coordination and information, and environmental assistance for small businesses.
To carry out this mission, the CSC offers a toll free telephone line that customers can call for information and assistance. Through its One-Stop Permit Assistance Program, the CSC helps customers determine what environmental permits they need for a particular project as well as permit decision timelines. The CSC also coordinates express permitting for a number of environmental permits. The CSC’s Small Business Ombudsman/Assistance Program helps small businesses understand and comply with environmental requirements and resolve environmental problems.
